Piia Karjalainen is the CEO of the Finnish Ports Association. Finnish Ports Association represents Finland’s sea and inland ports in advocacy forums at EU and national level. Karjalainen has over 20 years of experience in various transport sector tasks in Finland and Brussels, where she lived and worked for seven years. She has previously worked in diverse transport, legislation and advocacy positions at the Finland Chamber of Commerce, Wärtsilä, MaaS Alliance, the European Parliament and the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications. She has been particularly involved in issues related to the national transport plans and strategies, digitalisation and preparedness. She is an economist by education.
